Enforce SC ruling on past service recognition: Teachers to edu secy.
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Government Colleges Teachers’ Association (CGCTA) has requested the education secretary to adopt and implement the Supreme Court’s rulings regarding the counting of past service for teachers in government colleges under the Chandigarh administration.
In a letter, the CGCTA highlighted the long-standing issue of counting past service rendered by teachers for purposes such as pay scales and pension benefits. Despite several court rulings on the matter, teachers are still compelled to approach the courts individually, even though the issue has already been settled by the higher judiciary. The CGCTA emphasised that once a judgment is issue clear directives for the immediate adoption of these rulings.
