CABINET TO DECIDE SPECIAL CASES FOR POST OF ‘DSP’.
Meritorious Sportspersons are appointed by government on different government jobs because they represent India in Games. Sportsperson who play games which come under sports policy of states or center are appointed on different designation in the state not of others.
But recently a Ludhiana’s resident, Fateh Singh Brar case moved by the state government of Punjab before cabinet for directly appointing as a deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) who has climbed the Mount Everest on may 21,2003 from school Laurence School in Sanawar, under Sports quota for mountaineering is not a recognized sports in the Punjab Sports Policy, 2008.
To TOI a government Functionary confirmed that case of Brar is recommended by Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh for appointment to the post of DSP “as a “special case”.
Proposal was come for deliberation in the Cabinet meeting scheduled in afternoon on Wednesday.
Captain Sukwinder Singh Brar (Father of Fateh) is serving as assistant transport officer in Punjab Transport Department at Chandigarh.
In similar case in which Punjab Council of minister on March 7, 2018 decided and give nod for the appointment of Patiala resident who was also Everest Summiter Prithvi Singh Chahal as DSP in the state police.
Chahal & Brar were part of the same mountaineering expedition.
The sports department in its remarks has said that mountaineering was not a recognized sport and was neither included in the high potential games nor in the potential games category as per Punjab Sports Policy released in 2018, said by government official regarding Brar’s case.
Earlier in the Chahal’s case, objection was raised stating that there was no provision in the sports policy for appointment of a sportsperson under the sports quota as per ‘special case’.
Even, Rakesh Kaushal shooter’s son Ajitesh’s appointment approved by the cabinet as Punjab Police Service (PPS) officer as a sub-inspector under sports category, though it had earlier not found favor with the Punjab Finance Department.
Home Department had advised by the Finance Department that this case should be considered under the existing policy for such matters and applicant should be informed about applying for direct recruitment under sports quota.
Now let’s see what will be decided by the Cabinet on these ‘special cases’ whether they are eligible or not for the post of DSP.
