INSPECTOR WHO WAS BOOKED IN A GRAFT CASE IS SUSPENDED FOR FALSE ENTRY IN DDR        

                CBI registered a case against inspector JaswinderKaur, station house officer of Manimajra police station under Prevention of Corruption act and Section 120 b (Criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code. CBI booked JaswinderKaur and arrested Bhagwan Singh for accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 3 lakh out of Rs. 5 lakh for not lodging an FIR of cheating, forgery against a resident of Manimajram, Gurdeep Singh. CBI team of Sangrur arrested Bhagwan Singh red-handed with the bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh. An amount of Rs. 2 lakh was already paid earlier. JaswinderKaur had not been arrested till the filing of the report.

                As per the sources Randhir Singh had filed a complaint against Gurdeep Singh for cheating of Rs. 28 lakh with him on the pretext of providing a government job to his wife. But the promise was not fulfilled and Gurdeep declined to return money. According to Gurdeep Singh, SHO JaswinderKaur was pressuring him to pay Rs 5 lakh in cash for not lodging an FIR against him. He alleged in his complaint that he was humiliated by JaswinderKaur before three persons, including Bhagwan Singh, and compelled him to pay the bribe.

                After the arrest of Bhagwan Singh, the CBI personnel raided the room of SHO JaswinderKaur in Manimajra police station. CBI sealed the room and took away CCTV camera recorder of that room. All the relevant records pertaining to cheating complaint of around 28 lakh against Gurdeep Singh was also seized from the record room. CBI also questioned one constable, Amarjeet Singh, who had written a compromise in Punjabi language between Gurdeep Singh and Randhir Singh.

                A senior CBI officer said, “There is direct evidence establishing the involvement of SHO of Mani Majra police station, Inspector JaswinderKaur, for demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. Kaur was named as the main accused in the FIR registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, along with criminal conspiracy. We have recorded conversation between accused conduit Bhagwan Singh and complainant Gurdeep Singh. We have evidence showing conduit Bhagwan Singh and complainant Gurdeep Singh were in touch with JaswinderKaur over telephone and directly. We will again call Kaur to join the investigation tomorrow. Today she did not turn up for the probe.”

                JaswinderKaur who did not turn up to investigation when summoned by CBI in their headquarters, tried to create a false evidence in the shape of a DDR entry to show she had joined investigations. The investigating agency submitted before the court that Jaswinder made a false Daily Diary Register entry at the Manimajra police station on June 30, saying that she had returned from the CBI office. “The reality is that she has been on the run since June 30 and her phone is also switched off,” the CBI stated, adding that letters have been sent to senior officers of Chandigarh police, asking them to direct her to join investigation. “It has been informed that she has been suspended on account of the false DDR entry,” CBI told the court. CBI also told the court that Jaswinder was “deliberately avoiding joining investigation to avoid confrontation with the other accused Bhagwan Singh.”

                Inspector JaswinderKaur name had once figured in corruption case in 2017 which is being probed by CBI.

                Meanwhile, Gurpreet Singh who is son of Jaswinderkaur has written to CBI, alleging that his mother is being framed and also the alleged bribe amount was actually a part of compromise and Bhagwan Singh was mediator. A DDR with regard to compromise was also registered at the police station.

                Bhagwansingh remand was extended by CBI court for four days. CBI teams had visited the houses of the other accused Randhir Singh, who had accused Gurpreet Singh for duping him of Rs. 28 lakh on pretext of providing a government job.
